ZenRobotics, a company developing what it calls the first robotic recycling system, has scored its first sale. The client is Containers Maes, a Belgian company specialized in sustainable recycling. The facility near Tessenderlo in Belgium will be the first international installation of the ZenRobotics Recycler when the system is delivered in the last quarter of 2012.

The ZenRobotics Recycler system consists of a conveyor belt feeding system, a specialized sensors package, the robotic picking cell, the recovered fractions container bays, and ZenRobotics Brain, the artificial intelligence- powered control system. Together the technology enables the sorting of wood, stone, and metal fractions from the incoming construction and demolition waste stream. To add an extra touch of green to the proceedings, Containers Maes is going to run the system on solar power.

“We want to change the game. The future of recycling lies in innovative technologies and the efficiency gains they bring. ZenRobotics Recycler is certainly the best available technology in the field, so it is a no-brainer to go with it!” said Werner Willemoons, Environmental Director of Containers at Maes.

ZenRobotics is a high-end cleantech company based in Helsinki, Finland. Its ZenRobotics Recycler is marketed globally through a reseller network in 49 countries.
