In just two and a half months, Gehrlicher Solar completed its Perleberg solar park on the grounds of the former Perleberg military airport in Brandenburg, Germany. The solar system has a nominal capacity of 35 MWp.

The farm is expected to produce 33 million kilowatt hours of clean solar energy per year, which is enough to power 9,300 three-person residences. Gehrlincher has also built a transformer station, which made the connection between the farm and the grid on August 23 and has been consistently providing power ever since. It is estimated the operation will prevent around 32,000 tons of CO2 annually.

The area occupied by the farm extends over 90 hectares or the same as 125 soccer fields. The job of harvesting solar light and converting it into electricity is done with the help of 144,144 Yingli modules, 39 SMA inverters and 500 km (350 miles) of cables. 26 hectares were left as compensation area and habitat for meadow breeding birds.

The official opening is planned for mid-October.
