Every now and then, an exciting opportunity to experience the world comes by and you just have to say what the heck and toss your hat in the ring. If you are interested in sustainability and in particular the so-called water energy nexus, the opportunity of a lifetime is here.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, taking place from January 13-17, 2013, will be the largest sustainability gathering in the history of the Middle East. As part of this unprecedented gathering, Masdar is sponsoring a blogging contest called “Engage: The Water-Energy Nexus.” The winning blogger will be invited to Abu Dhabi as VIP media to cover the event.

Many of you, who have followed CleanTechies know that the water energy nexus is a crucial issue that affects many of the world’s population. Approximately 40% of the world’s population is expected to live in water scarce regions by 2025. Moreover, total electricity consumption of the water and wastewater sectors will grow 33% in the next 20 years.

If you want to make a difference, hob-nob with global thought leaders and become a changemaker in your own right, this is the opportunity you simply cannot pass up.

What’s required to enter the contest? Write a blog post addressing the following question:

What steps can individuals, businesses or world leaders take to address the most pressing and often interrelated water and energy challenges?

Please submit the blog to us at CleanTechies or send your post to press@masdar.ae.

Blogs must be published by December 31, 2012. For more details about the Masdar Engage blogging contest, see the contest rules.
