Here’s an idea for 2013. Wouldn’t it be nice to have powerful solar chargers all over the place? One Portuguese company is doing something along those lines. With its StarEnergy’s INTI Solar Charge Point, it is possible to charge a cell phone, a tablet or a laptop with solar power from mobile charging stations can be installed in any public space, such as parks, airports, bus stations and even temporarily at events.

INTI Solar Charge Point is also a connectivity hub. It features a 220V connection, micro USB and iPhone. The basic version features Wi-Fi and in more advanced versions it also includes video monitoring and support for advertising. The model can last two days without sunshine, provides Wi-Fi signal distribution 24 hours per day in a range of 150 meters and it can charge around 2,000 cell phones per day in 15 minutes each time.

It would be great to see solar power solutions such as the INTI Solar Charge Point popping up all over the place. Hopefully they will do in the new year.
