About: Elizabeth Redman
Elizabeth Redman is the Founder of Cross Sector Strategies, a consulting firm that specializes in collaborative economic development strategies and policies to promote sustainable industry growth. Much of her work focuses on setting the policy context to create new business opportunities and engage a variety of stakeholders in the development of joint social, economic, and environmental goals. From creating the Oregon Cluster Network to help the state align public sector resources with industry needs, to coordinating the many initiatives developed by the Oakland Partnership’s Green Technology Cluster, to building industry connections for the East Bay Green Corridor Partnership, Elizabeth understands the importance of engaging leaders from the public, private, non-profit and academic sectors in the creation of long-term economic and workforce development strategies. Her previous work with the Fortune 500 companies participating in Future 500’s Climate Initiative and the many small business members of Efficiency First have also given her a deeper understanding of how energy and climate policies directly affect business growth, for small and large companies alike.
Her prior research on corporate social responsibility domestically and in Latin America complements her expertise in industry cluster development and regional competitiveness. She has worked with a broad range of industries, from high-tech areas like software and biotech, to natural resource based clusters like tourism, forest products, and agriculture, to a range of clean tech industries, including renewable energy, green building, recycling, and energy efficiency.
Elizabeth received her Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley and is currently working on several projects to better understand how environmental and energy policy will affect economic, workforce, and business development outcomes. Cross Sector Strategies is based on the premise that the best solutions require cross-sector collaboration and can simultaneously achieve environmental and economic goals.
