About: Robert M. Speiser
Robert is an environmental and energy analyst currently working as an independent consultant on the carbon markets, environmental impact assessments, and on GHG quanitification issues in Santiago, Chile. This is his second stop in Chile, living here previously 6 years ago, working as an English teacher, volunteering for an environmental NGO, and courting his soon-to-be lovely wife, Claudia. In between, Robert, Claudia, and beautiful daughter, Sophie Elaine, lived in the Boston area for Sophie’s first 3 years. There, Robert received his Master’s degree from Boston University in ”International Relations & Environmental Policy.”
In Boston, Robert also worked for about a year and half as an Analyst and Resarcher with the ”Energy Advisory Services” of Global Insight, contributing important insight to various projects on biofuels, RPS standards, US climate change bills, and a carbon footprint assessment for the American chemicals industry. Robert is from Los Angeles, CA and received his B.A. from UCLA. He has also lived in Berkeley; Osaka, Japan; and New Orleans, where he and his family honed their flight-or-fight instincts escaping an oncoming Hurricane Katrina while Claudia was more than 9 months pregnant.
Today, everyone is safe, sound, and happy together while Robert continues to work toward a cleaner, more sustainable Chile, South and North America, even though he realizes how difficult and expensive it can sometimes be.
