Recycling is gradually being recognized as an easy way for people to reduce their environmental impact. In many cities around the world, recycling is now required by law, and as a result, cities such as San Francisco, CA recycle over 70% of their trash. Government policy has clearly played a major role in developing recycling programs. In addition, new recycling technologies have helped to lower the cost of recycling items such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Unfortunately, most cities around the world do not yet have recycling programs, and more will need to be done.
Usually we think of demolished concrete walls and floors as environmental contaminants, but in fact this material may turn out to be a valuable resource in nature protection work.
