UK Waste Treatment Plant Now Powered With Solar Energy

A waste treatment plant in Waterbeach, UK, is now being powered mostly with solar energy. Lightsource Renewable Energy Limited and Solarcentury have jointly developed the photovoltaic (PV) 5MW project that will provide 70 percent of AmeyCespa’s Mechanical Biological Treatment plant in the small village in the region of Cambridgeshire. European Emissions Keep Decreasing

Here is some really good news coming from the European Union. From the EU environmental agency – EEA, located in Copenhagen – greenhouse gases emissions from the 15 first Member States decreased by 3.5 % between 2010 and 2011. Gehrlicher Solar Builds Solar Park in Record Time

In just two and a half months, Gehrlicher Solar completed its Perleberg solar park on the grounds of the former Perleberg military airport in Brandenburg, Germany. The solar system has a nominal capacity of 35 MWp.

EU Ban on Incandescent Bulbs Went into Effect on September 1

The incandescent light bulb, in use for more than a century, will be officially banned across the European Union on September 1. Over the past three years, the EU has been phasing out 60-watt and 100-watt incandescent bulbs, and on Saturday retailers will no longer be allowed to sell 40-watt and 25-watt bulbs. (more…)
