Gasification – Waste Management at its Best

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

Renewable energy is undoubtedly a current issue; increasing awareness of the dangers of climate change, along with greater government involvement has made the prospect of renewable energy an incredibly exciting and attractive sector. What many people remain unaware of however is the scope of a sector named ‘renewable energy’ instead focusing on the (more…)

Sorghum’s Potential as a Bioenergy Crop

Monday, September 17th, 2012

Biofuels are mostly produced from grains such as corn. In recent years, various types of wild grasses and other crops have been looked at to produce biofuels, but have yet to break through in a big way. A new study by the United States Department of Agriculture has uncovered a potential breakthrough candidate for biofuel expansion. It is sorghum, a (more…)

Making Gasoline With Biomass

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

Is it possible to make gasoline with biomass? Some people think so and this is what CORE BioFuel has set out to do since it was founded in 2008.

The company’s mission is to commercialize its biomass-to-gasoline process, a patent-pending variant of ExxonMobil’s methanol-to-gasoline (MTG). (more…)

Brazilian Deforestation Falls Sharply in Past Eight Years

Friday, August 31st, 2012

Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon fell by 77 percent from 2004 to 2011, but carbon emissions did not drop as steeply because of complex processes revealed during on-the-ground studies, scientists say.

While analysis of satellite images showed the three- (more…)
