Residential customers in Hawaii paid an average of 37 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity this past June, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The next closest states, Vermont and Connecticut, paid about 18 cents, placing Hawaii in a league of its own when it comes to energy costs. But help is on the way from the Pentagon.
Traditional indoor greenhouses typically use white light, which is a combination of all colors in a spectrum. A Pinkhouse, on the other hand, is a vertical indoor farm that uses only red and blue light, which give the place a nice pink glow.

Mapal Energy, an Israeli start-up which develops and supplies advanced diffusers for wastewater purification plants, has completed a project in Brazil for the supply and installation of floating fine-bubble aeration units in the FLORES WWTP, state of São Paulo. A previous post discussed Honeywell’s patent infringement suit against Nest Labs (Nest) asserting seven thermostat control patents. Since then Nest has requested that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) reexamine all seven of the patents-in-suit.
