Media Misrepresents Climate Change Challenges

For the last six months, major newspapers and news magazines have completely misrepresented climate science to the detriment of our public discourse and our planet.

Newsweek argued that climate scientists are playing “fast and loose” with facts. The New York Times reported a controversy raging in the field of climate science. And countless other news outlets, blogs, pundits and writers followed these leaders.

As in the case of evolution, anti-scientific activists are demanding “both sides” of a one-sided issue. By “teaching the controversy” of climate science, newspapers, magazines, blogs and TV personalities damage society’s ability to deal with climate crisis. (more…)

Green Media Panel: Practical & Legal Considerations for Communicating Your Message

Green businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area abound, and green professionals are fortunate enough to be offered an array of green events they can choose from at any time. As editor of green media outlet CleanTechies, I particularly like one event that is taking place tomorrow. The Green Chamber of Commerce and law firm Wendel Rosen are co-sponsoring a panel on “Practical & Legal Considerations for Communicating Your Message” – an event that no green communicator would want to miss (at least in my opinion). Personally, I think it’s a fabulous idea to get green media leaders together, and I trust William Acevedo from Wendel Rosen will do a great job moderating the panel, which includes the following leading local green media experts:

How is Technology “Cleaning Up” Entertainment?

I remember being a senior in high school using Prodigy (!!) to connect to the Internet and thinking that this “Internet thing” was never going to catch on. It was way too slow and I felt like a loser for spending so much time not really accomplishing anything. I had no idea that the Internet was slowly and steadily on its way to transforming all other forms of entertainment- music, movies, toys, and even books to become a gateway into more sustainable industries.
