Toronto District School Board has announced that it plans to outfit nine local schools with photovoltaic (PV) installations by the time students return to their classes at the end of next summer. The hotel industry offers a variety of opportunities for workers who have attained solar certification. One exciting example is the Planet Traveler Hotel on College Street. Late last month, Toronto-based Atlantic Wind and Solar Inc. announced an encouraging step forward in the transition to a greener economy. The firm is planning to launch a brand new financing program designed to help organizations develop large-scale wind and solar energy projects. Earlier this summer, the Town of Ingersoll’s council voted to move ahead with plans to build a $32.5 million solar energy farm. The town, which lies about two hours outside of Toronto, will partner with inTech Clean Energy, a longtime distributor of solar PV equipment throughout Europe, to build the 18.2-hectare project on land owned by inTech.
